West Fest

Saturday & Sunday, July 11th & 12th 2015

on Chicago Ave. between Damen & Wood

Like booming West Town, West Fest has grown from a quaint street party into one of the most popular festivals of the year. West Fest's reputation has caught on with critics alike, the Chicago Tribune singled it out as one of the "best" summer fests in Chicagoland! Now in its eleventh year, West Fest promises to keep the momentum going strong with non-stop live music, Kid Fest and Pet Fest wrapped into one glorious summer weekend on Chicago Avenue July 11th & 12th.

West Fest provides the stage to show why West Town is one of the hottest up-and-coming neighborhoods in the city. The event is locally planned and managed by the West Town Chamber of Commerce, thus the emphasis is on 'local,' from the food, to the live art making, to the participants. Lined with independent, locally-owned businesses, West Town's streets continue to blossom with new restaurants, cafes, boutiques and services - many of them represented as vendors at West Fest. A great way to explore exciting West Town any time of the year is with the 'Discover West Town' mobile app, which includes a complete business directory as well as a 'hot deals' feature. To view the app online, visit m.westtownchicago.com or download for free from your smart phone app store.

Not only was the West Fest music lineup called one of the "top" of the summer, according to Chicago Tribune music critic Greg Kot, but it only costs $5 (optional donation) for admittance - a great and economical alternative to Chicago's other big ticket music fests! West Fest features dozens of bands and DJs playing continuously throughout the weekend on three stages. Empty Bottle Presents books the Main Stage at Damen Avenue; and we also have the "Chicago House" DJ Stage at Wood Street, plus the Kid Fest stage on Wolcott and Rice booked by Beat Kitchen. Click here for the complete 2015 live music line up.

Live Art Making On Site

West Fest is featuring a group of local artists to create art work live on site during West Fest. The live art making activity is inspiring to watch and all work will be for sale! Artists featured in 2015 are courtesy of Chicago Truborn and include Rob Hogan, Ross Felten, Cero, Stuk, Moski, NSTJ72, Michelle Graves, Beth Pearlman, Bunny XLV, Tova, Scott Holterhaus, David Leonardis, Brain Killer, Blake Brady, Anne Heisler, FEDZ, Jasso, Trish Garcia, Shawn Cassara, Naomi, Trixter Feds, Chris Gallevo, Sonya Jae Fedele, and Emily Jane Perkulator.

Kid Fest

Kid Fest (Wolcott at Chicago) is the ultimate fest-within-a-fest, which runs on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7 pm (at no additional admittance fee). Kid Fest is organized by West Fest local school benefactor Talcott Museum and Fine Arts Academy. Kid Fest will feature many popular activities including train rides, pony rides, bouncy houses, ring toss, balloon darts, bottle toss, face painting and more. The Kid Fest stage is booked by the Beat Kitchen and features great family friendly programming. Click here for the complete line up.

100% of the proceeds raised by Kid Fest benefit Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy. Talcott also receives 15% of the event proceeds.

Pet Fest

12-6pm both days. Pet Fest is an area within West Fest dedicated to dog activities for charity and pet related retail vendors. Well behaved dogs, which are allowed on leashes at West Fest, are invited to 'woof' it up here! This annual event raises funds for local animal rescues by hosting various dog activities as well as a charity dog wash. Bring your dog and let him express himself with paw painting, bandana tie-dye, and some basic training from local dog trainers, and more. Pet Fest proceeds benefit: Alive Rescue, One Tail Time, Be Fido's Friend and AARs. Canine Crews organizes and sponsors the Pet Fest area with local Green Dog Inc. and Doggy Style Pet Shop.

Fine Print

There is a $5 donation requested for entry to West Fest to offset the costs of producing the event and to benefit the West Town Chamber of Commerce a non-profit 501 C6 serving the community, and 15% of net proceeds are donated to Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy a local elementary school. Talcott parents volunteer and plan the Kid Fest area and 100% of Kid Fest area activities benefit the school. The event location is Chicago Ave between Damen and Wood. Hours of operation both days are noon to 10pm (Kid Fest 12-7pm & Pet Fest 12-6pm).
